“Nature’s Way”

Size: 30” x 36”

Materials and techniques: wool, linen, batik, hand-dyed cottons, glitzy brocades, silks, rayons, machine-made "lace," ribbons, metallic trims, etc. cut and torn into strips and appliquéd onto contton backing. Beaded embellishments. Decorative machine stitching with metallic and variegated thread "quilts" strips to batting and backing. Dark-green wool and cashmere "frame" with metallic trim.

Backstory: Nature's Way was inspired by a journey into a forest-through dappled trees, into a clearing, and then further into the deep, dark woods.

Juried into the 2007 Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta and the 2007 Art Center at Fuller Lodge (Los Alamos) show, "Bold Expressions in Clay, Fiber, and Wood."
