Feanaro, the Caped Condor
Approximately 27" tall Materials: Wire armature, stuffing, fabric "skin," Needle-felted wool body and head. Fabric-wrapped claws, metallic nails on hands and claws. Stiff-fabric, painted wings covered with glitter; hand-knitted cape from novelty yarns, feather and Angelina fiber crown. Backstory: A combination of human and bird forms. Is it a bird shaped like a human, or a human shaped like a bird? Is it longing to fly or longing for the earth?
Juried into the 2007 Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta and the 2007 Art Center at Fuller Lodge (Los Alamos) show, "Bold Expressions in Clay, Fiber, and Wood."Feanaro now resides in a private collection.
